German tennis player Alexander Zverev (No. 5 in the ATP rankings) was proclaimed the new Olympic champion by beating Russian Karen Khachanov (No. 25) in two sets in the final of the men's singles tournament.

Alexander Zverev prevailed in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, over Karen Kchachanov in a duel that dominated much of this the German. It has made history at these Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Alexander Zverev, who in the semi-finals defeated the heavy seed, Novak Djokovic, won Germany's first gold medal in tennis since 1988 when Steffi Graff triumphed in the women's singles event.
